Do you have a paper that still needs to be formatted? Are your sources still not cited? Are you lost regarding what you have to do? Are you in a state of panic? Well if you have answered in the affirmative to any of those questions, you are definitely in luck.

Because by the time you finish reading everything from this point forward, all your formatting and citation worries will become a thing of the past. Since discussed below are guidelines relating to the APA format. So, get comfortable and read on!

Citing Your Sources

Now before you can learn how to add citations, it's important to understand why you need to do that in the first place. In a paper, an essay writer often quotes different facts, figures, and stats from a variety of sources.

When you do that, it is necessary to add citations for each set of information you use. You can’t just throw stuff in without them like the cheapest paper writing service on the web. This is because citing your sources adds credibility to your paper. They affirm that the information you have given is authentic and is not simply hearsay.

For citing sources, APA uses the author-date method. What this means is that, right at the end of the information quoted from a source, you need to add the in-text citation. Which includes the last name of the work’s author and the work’s publishing year. Both of which need to be enclosed within parentheses.

However, this is just when you are using an idea from a source. In case you are directly quoting texts or facts, then you also have to add the page number at the end of your intext citation.

How you do that is by adding “p.” in the case of a single page and “pp.” in the case of multiple pages, right before the page number/s.

Formatting Your Paper

While you may have understood how to cite your sources, formatting your paper is an entirely different ball game. So, if you aren’t good with following tons of instructions, it’s best to let a write my paper service do all the heavy lifting for you. Regardless, down below is a list of formatting steps that will help you out. As such your paper should:

  • Be typed on a computer.
  • Be double-spaced throughout.
  • Have a standard page size of 8.5 inches by 11 inches.
  • Have 1-inch margins on all four sides.
  • Have a page header, also known as a running head, on the top of every page.
  • Include the title of the paper and the page number in the running head if the paper is professional. But if it is a student paper, only include the page number. Either way, make sure the page numbers are flushed to the right, while the title is flushed to the left.
  • Have a running head title that is written in all caps and is no longer than 50 characters, inclusive of punctuations and spacing. Do note that you need to refer to the above point to determine if your running head should feature a title or not.
  • Have a highly legible font, preferably Times New Roman with a font size of 12 points. However, other sans serif fonts like Calibri and Arial with a font size of 11 points can also be used.
  • Have a complete section for the title page, abstract, main body, and references.

By now you must be feeling somewhat overwhelmed but don't let APA get you down. Sure! Using it can be tough at first, but with a little practice, you will get the hang of it in no time.
